Nursing is one of Ghana’s noble professions under the jurisdiction of the Ghana Health Service and the Ministry of Health. Though we see a lot of Nurses from time to time in their uniforms, most people can hardly make out the meaning of a Nurse’s uniform or even tell of the rank.
The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has classified the uniform of nurses based on qualifications and area of specialty. What this means is nurses with a certificate qualification have different uniforms likewise those with diplomas and degree qualifications. Aside from academic qualifications, a nurse’s uniform may be different depending on the rank or even one’s area of specialty. That is, whether they are General Nurses, Midwives, Nurses Practioner, etc.
In this post, we will assist our readers with the available Nurses’ uniforms and what they signify in the Ghana Health Service.
