Below are the GIJ postgraduate admissions for 2024/2025. The Ghana Institute of Journalism admission forms for the 2024/2025 academic year are officially out. Interested and qualified candidates can apply for the 2024/2025 GIJ Postgraduate Admissions. The management of the Ghana Institute of Journalism School of Graduate Studies and Research (SoGSaR) is delighted to inform the general public that applications are open for applicants to the following programs. Kindly read and check more for the qualification and mode of application details below.
Postgraduate Regular Programmes At GIJ
Interested applicants can apply to be offered the following Master of Arts Programs:
- JOURNALISM
- PUBLIC RELATIONS
- MEDIA MANAGEMENT
- DEVELOPMENT COMMUNICATION
There are 15 months of intensive programs for the above programs according to the semester system. Hence, lectures begin at 3.00 p.m. each day, from Monday to Friday.
Postgraduate Weekend Programmes At GIJ (Friday And Saturday)
Again, interested applicants can apply to be enrolled in the following Master of Arts Programs:
- PUBLIC RELATIONS
- DEVELOPMENT COMMUNICATION
Also, for the above programs, there are 15 months of intensive programs according to the semester system with lectures on Friday at 3.00 pm and Saturday at 7.30 am.

Postgraduates Programmes At GIJ – Sandwich
- Firstly, Journalism
- Secondly, Public Relations
- Also, Media Management
- Lastly, the Development of Communication
Also, the above programs shall be held for over two (2) sandwich semesters of 8 weeks, (June-July) per semester.
GIJ Postgraduates Admission Requirements
- To begin with, applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies from Ghana
Institute of Journalism or any recognized University, with at least Second Class Lower Division.
- Alternatively, applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in other disciplines from any reputable
University with at least Second Class Lower Division
- Also, GIJ final year Bachelor’s degree students are eligible to apply as awaiting results applicants.
- Lastly, applicants must pass an Entrance Examination and Selection Interview.

NOTE: Interested candidates from Non-English speaking countries must also have a minimum level of
English Language Proficiency in the following: GSCE/O LEVEL, IELTS and TOEFL.
Cost Of GIJ Postgraduates Admissions Forms
The cost of GIJ postgraduate application form for Ghanaian applicants is GHS 300.00 and for international applicants is USD 150.00.

- Pay your application to fill at any Fidelity Bank Branch by providing your name (as will appear on your application) and telephone number.
- You will be provided with your application number at the bank.
- Go to https://gij.edu.gh/how-to-apply-postgraduate/ to begin and complete your application online.
- NOTE; you will need a valid e-mail address to complete the online application.
- Once the process has been completed, applicants must print out and keep a copy of the completed application form for verification.
