The General Nursing Council – GNC Portal allows all members of the Nurses and Midwifery Council of Zambia (NMCZ) to complete self-service activities such as NMCZ Registration for New Nurses and Midwives, candidate indexing, license renewal, analytics and reporting among others.
In this post, we will assist our readers with guidelines on how to create a GNC Portal account and log in to complete all the activities. This post will also how to complete your GNC indexing, and password recovery process in case you do not remember your account credentials.
How to Create a GNC Portal Account
Follow these guidelines to register for a GNC portal account;
- Visit the GNC Portal via www.portal.gnc.org.zm
- Click on the signup for online services link
- Select your preferred status (eg. Student or Practioner)
- Enter your Index number, NRC number and email address if you are a student
- Enter your Registration number, NCR number and email address if you are a practitioner
- Click on the Register for Online Services button
- You will receive an email with your username and password which will be used to log into the portal
GNC Portal Login
Practitioners and students of the Zambia General Nursing Council are required to log into the GNC self-service portal with these steps;
- Access the GNC Portal via www.portal.gnc.org.zm
- Enter your username and password (NB: The username is your email and the default password was sent to your email after registration.)
- Click on the sign-in button to proceed to your GNC Portal dashboard

GNC Online Registration Process
Follow these procedures to register for the Zambia General Nursing Council (GNC) membership online;
- Log into your GNC Portal with your email and password
- Click on the registration link from the sidebar menu
- Click on the Exam icon to be redirected to the registration page (NB: The registration form is in three (3) parts)
- Fill out the registration form with all the required details
- Program you wish to apply for
- Select the register you wish to apply
- Select your dress, tunic, dallas and apron size
- Upload all the required documents
- Colored passport photo size
- NRC/Passport copy
- Letter of financial clearance from your training institution
- Your Grade 12 certificate
- Degree/diploma certificate
- Transcript for all your academic years
- Proof of payment
- Read the declarations and check each checkbox to confirm your consent
- Click on the submit button to complete the registration
How to Check for ECZ Results Online
GNC Portal Indexing
Zambia General Nursing Council (GNC) indexing allows student Nurses and Midwives’ personal data to be captured and recorded in a central database. These steps will guide you on how to complete your GNC Portal indexing online;
- Access the GNC Portal via www.portal.gnc.org.zm
- Click on the signup for online services link
- Identify and click on the New Indexing link at the bottom of the page
- Fill out the GNC indexing form with all the required details
- Save your entries and continue the process

How to Recover your GNC Portal Password
In the event you do not remember the password to your General Nursing Council (GNC) online portal, follow these steps to recover your account;
- Access the password recovery URL via www.portal.gnc.org.zm/password
- Enter the email that was used in creating your account
- A password reset link will be generated and sent to your email
- Log into your email and follow the link to complete the recovery process
