How to Book NTSA Vehicle Inspection Online

The Kenya National Transport Safety Authority as part of the drive towards technology has now made it possible for drivers and car owners to book appointments for NTSA vehicle inspection online using the NTSA TIMS Portal. The NTSA Vehicle inspection happens once a year.

Purpose of  NTSA Vehicle Inspection

The objective of the NTSA Vehicle inspection exercise is to ensure all commercial vehicles meet the safety standards that protect passengers and road users from accidents and road dangers. This annual inspection covers important areas such as the inspection of brakes, body interior and exterior, tires, etc.

NTSA Vehicle Inspection Booking

Ensure you have the following before you proceed to book your NTSA inspection online; 

  • An NTSA TIMS account
  • The vehicle to be inspected should be on your TIMS account.
  •  NTSA payment receipt (Will be used as proof of payment).

Note: The NTSA Vehicle inspection occurs once every year.

NTSA Vehicle Inspection Price

You will be required to pay the following charges as the cost for the NTSA vehicle inspection;

  •  NTSA vehicle inspection – KSH 1000.00
  • Third plate sticker fees  – KSH 700.00
  • Convenience charge – KSH 50.00

How to Book NTSA Vehicle Inspection Online

Users are required to create an account on the NTSA TIMS portal and log in to book for NTSA vehicle inspection with these steps;

  • Visit the NTSA TIMS portal 
  • Enter your username and password ( First time users are to create an NTSA account with these steps)
  • Click on the SignIn
  • Enter the OTP from NTSA sent to your phone and Log in
  • Click on the Vehicle Inspection menu option
  • Click on the Inspections link from the dropdown. (Note: The inspection report will be available after the physical inspection exercise)
  • Click on the Payment of Booking inspection option
  • Select the annual option as the Inspection type
  • Click on the next button to proceed
  • A list of your vehicles will be displayed on the next page
  • Select the vehicle you wish to book for an inspection
  • Click on the next button to proceed
  • Proceed to payments with M-Pesa with the paybill details provided
  • Book the inspection centre of your choice
  • Select your preferred inspection dates
  • Print your payment receipt and invoice to be submitted at the inspection center
