Student Loan Trust Fund
Established in 2005 by the Ghanaian government, the SLTF provides loans to students enrolled in accredited tertiary institutions within the country.
These student loans cover various educational costs, such as tuition fees, living expenses, books, and more.

Student Loan Trust Fund Application Process 2025
To apply for the SLTF, follow these steps
- Register online at www.sltf.gov.gh and complete the application form with your personal and academic information.
- Print the completed application form and the guarantor’s deed.
- Find a guarantor who meets SLTF requirements, earns at least GHS 1,500 per month, and has at least three years of employment (the guarantor must provide a copy of their payslip, national ID card, and passport photo)
- Submit the application form, guarantor’s deed, and required documents to any SLTF office or partner bank branch.
- Wait for your loan application to be processed and approved by the SLTF. You will receive an SMS notification when your loan is ready for disbursement.
- Visit any SLTF office or partner bank branch to sign the loan agreement and receive your loan cheque or cash

Student Loan Trust Fund Application Requirements 2025
To apply for a SLTF in Ghana, you’ll need
- Phone numbers for both the applicant and the guarantor
- An E-zwich account linked to the applicant’s bank account at the same bank
- A social security number
- Proof of enrollment in an accredited tertiary program in Ghana
- A personal guarantor who can be an SSNIT contributor, MMDA, Religious Body, or Corporate Body
- Two passport-size photographs

How to Create Your SLTF Application Account
Below is the step-by-step procedure to create your SLTF account
- Visit the SLTF website via www.sltf.gov.gh
- Click on Loans on the menu bar
- Click on Apply Now and you will be redirected automatically to your login page
- Click the Signup button
- Read the legal notice and click Agree if you agree with it
- Fill in the required information and click Next
- On the user account info page, check the box that says I agree to the terms of service (if you agree to the terms)
- Click on Create Account
- After successfully creating your account, you’ll receive an activation code on your phone or email.
- Enter the code in the textbox and click Activate Account
Note:
- If you don’t receive your activation code within 24 hours, contact the nearest Students Loan office for help
- Activation codes expire after 48 hours
- Make sure your phone number is correct and that your email address is in lowercase to receive the activation code

Steps to Activate Your Account
Below is the step-by-step procedure to activate your SLTF account
- Visit the SLTF website via www.sltf.gov.gh
- Click on Loans on the menu bar
- Click on Apply Now and you will be redirected automatically to your login page
- Click the Login button on the homepage
- Below the Sign-In form, click Activate Account
- Enter your Ghana card number or SSNIT number and click Send Code
- When you receive the activation code, enter it into the Verification Code field and click Verify
- After activating your account, you can log in to complete your online student loan application
How to Access Your SLTF Application Portal
To access your application portal, follow the steps below
- Visit the SLTF website via www.sltf.gov.gh
- Click on Loans on the menu bar
- Click on Apply Now and you will be redirected automatically to your login page
- Then click on Login
- Enter your Ghana Card or SSNIT Number
- Click on Next and then enter your password to access your application portal

How to Reset Your SLTF Portal Password
Follow the steps below to reset your Student Loan Trust Fund portal password
- Visit the SLTF website via www.sltf.gov.gh
- Click on Loans on the menu bar
- Click on Apply Now and you will be redirected automatically to your login page
- Then click on Login
- Click Forgotten Password below the Sign-In form
- Enter your Ghana card number or SSNIT number and click Next
- Click Send Code to request your activation code
- Your activation code will be sent via SMS
- Enter your activation code in the Verification Code field and click Verify
- Enter your new password and click Submit
- You can now log in using your Ghana card number or SSNIT number and your new password
