How to Create Your UCT Applicant Profile

To apply for admission at the University of Cape Town, you are required to create your applicant profile, upload the required documents, and pay the necessary fees with these steps;

  • Visit the UCT website at www.uct.ac.za
  • Click on the Application link from the menu
  • Select online application
  • Click on the Create Account option on the next page
  • Fill out the registration form with your details
    • Firstname and Lastname (As indicated on your RSA ID or Passport)
    • Date of Birth
    • Email Address
    • Username
    • National ID or Passport Number
  • Click on the Create Button to complete your registration
  • Congratulations, you can log into the application portal to begin the UCT online application process

UCT Application Login

Students with a UCT applicant profile can log into the UCT  portal to submit their application or check their UCT application status online with these steps;

  • Visit the UCT website at www.uct.ac.za
  • Click on the Application link from the menu
  • Select online application
  • Click on the application login option
  • Enter your student ID and password
  • Click on the login button
  • Wait for the system to authenticate and redirect you to the dashboard

UCT Admission Requirements

Degree Programmes

To be eligible for admission to degree study, applicants need to meet minimum requirements for eligibility:

  • Applicants holding a South African National Senior Certificate (NSC) need to pass a minimum of 4 subjects at a rating of 4 (Adequate Achievement, 50-59%) or better in any four 20-credit NSC subjects.
  • Applicants holding a South African Senior Certificate need matriculation endorsement.
  • Applicants holding non-South African school-leaving certificates must qualify for a matriculation exemption certificate. For more information please visit the website of the Matriculation Board.

Diploma Programmes

  • The minimum requirement for admission to undergraduate diploma study is a National Senior Certificate (NSC) as certified by Umalusi with an achievement rating of 3 (Moderate Achievement, 40-49%) or better in 4 recognized NSC 20-credit subjects.

Certificate Programmes

  • To confirm eligibility for admission to undergraduate certificate study, applicants must consult the Admissions Office or the faculty concerned.

UCT Application Fee

Applicants of the University of Cape Town are required to pay the corresponding application fee based on the level of their application;
