DUT Online Application. The Durban University of Technology – DUT Online Application for the 2024/2025 academic year is currently in progress. Citizens and foreign applicants interested in studying at DUT are required to visit the central Applications Office – CAO Online Application portal to complete their application.

DUT Entry Requirements 2024

South African and Foreign Applicants must meet the following entry requirements to be considered for admission at the Durban University of Technology;

Entry Requirements for South African Applicants

Bachelor’s Degree Programmes

A National Senior Certificate (NSC) as certified by the Council for General and Further Education and Training (Umalusi), with a minimum achievement rating of 3 for English and a minimum achievement rating of 4 in four NSC 20-credit subjects chosen from the NSC designated subject list.

Diploma Programmes

A National Senior Certificate (NSC) as certified by the Council for General and Further Education and Training (Umalusi), with a minimum achievement rating of 3 for English and a minimum achievement rating of 3 in four recognized NSC 20-credit subjects

Higher Certificate Programmes

A National Senior Certificate (NSC) as certified by the Council for General and Further Education and Training (Umalusi), with a minimum achievement rating of 3 for English

Note: Over and above the minimum entrance requirements, each department also sets specific entrance requirements which applicants need to meet.

DUT Entry Requirements for NCV LEVEL 4

Applicants with National Certificate Vocational Qualification interested in studying at the Durban University of Technology must meet these entry requirements;

Bachelor’s Degree Applicants

A National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4 with the following minimum requirements:

  • At least 60% in three fundamental subjects including English
  • At least 70% in four compulsory vocational subjects, chosen from the National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4

Diploma Applicants

A National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4 with the following minimum requirements:

  •  At least 50% in three fundamental subjects including English
  • At least 60% in three compulsory vocational

Higher Certificate Applicants

  • A National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4 with at least 50% in English.

DUT Online Application Process

Follow these guidelines to apply for admission at the Durban University of Technology (DUT);

  1. Visit the Central Applications Office (CAO) website www.cao.ac.za 
  2. Click on the Available programmes option to browse through the list of available programmes
  3. Click on Apply Now
  4. Enter your index number or passport number
  5. Complete your application by filling in all the required details
  6. Pay for the application fee
  7. Print out the declaration form and Deposit slip
  8. Attach the required documents and proof of payment to your declaration form
  9. Post to CAO OR hand in at CAO offices
  10. Keep the receipt and make a note of your CAO number and password

Cost of Durban University of Technology Application Fee

South African applicants are required to make a payment of R250.00 for the Durban University of Technology application fee and international applicants are to pay R300.00 for the 2024 application fee.

Closing Date for DUT Application 2024

The Durban University of Technology Application for the 2024 academic year is scheduled to close on 30th September 2024.
