About Unemployment Insurance Funds – UIF uFiling

The Unemployment Insurance Fund is a special fund that employers are required to declare and pay on behalf of their employees. These funds will be used to financially support an employee in case of a job loss or cannot work for certain reasons.

In an effort for the UIF to make the filing of claims and payment process easily accessible for employers and employees, a secure Online system was introduced for Employers to register, declare and pay UIF contributions. Employees can also use the system to apply for any of the following benefits;

  • Unemployment Benefits
  • Reduced Time Benefits
  • Maternity Benefits
  • Illness Benefits
  • Adoption Benefits

UIF uFiling Registration Process

In order to use the uFiling website and services, you need to complete a registration process to obtain your own unique login name and password. Follow these guidelines to create your account;

  1. Visit the uFiling website
  2. Click on the register menu link
  3. Read and accept the terms and conditions of the UIF
  4. Check the box that says Yes and click on continue
  5. Enter your username and fill out the registration form will the required details
  6. Click on the Register button
  7. A confirmation link will be sent to your email with an OTP code to confirm your uFiling account
  8. Click on the link to activate your account
  9. Use the username you provided and OTP to log in to your new account
  10. On your first login, you will be asked to create a new password and a hint for it
  11. Click on the Apply button when you are done
  12. Next, a pop-up will inform you that you will answer some questions to provide the uFiling portal with more details about your account
  13. Click on the Continue button
  14. This next step is the vetting process. NB: There are five categories of information you will provide
    • your physical address,
    • postal address,
    • email address,
    • employers information.
  15. Pay rapid attention while answering so that you do not fail. Note: If you fail, you will have to contact uFiling support with a copy of your ID, proof of residence, and proof of employment. Click Update when you are done.

UIF uFiling Login

Employees and employers can log into their uFiling account after successfully creating an account with these steps;

  • Visit the uFiling login page via www.ufiling.labour.gov.za/uif/login
  • Enter your Username and password used to register your account
  • Click on the login button
  • Wait for the system to authenticate and redirect to the dashboard
