How to Apply New Number Plate in Kenya 2024. The Government of Kenya in collaboration with the National Transport Safety Authority – NTSA in the drive to improve vehicle tracking launched an improved digital number plate in 2022 for all vehicles in Kenya. In this post, we will assist our readers with guidelines on how to apply for the new Number plates online using the NTSA TIMS Portal with your eCitizen account.

How to apply for New NTSA Number Plates

Follow these procedures to apply for the new Kenya NTSA New generation number plates online via the NTSA TIMS portal;

Procedures for NTSA Number Plates Application for Vehicles

  • Visit the NTSA TIM Portal the https://timsvirl.ntsa.go.ke
  • Enter your ID/Username and password
  • Click on the login button
  • Wait for the system to authenticate and redirect you to the dashboard
  • Select vehicle registration and apply for a reflective plate
  • Select the vehicle and click on the next
  • Select reason (New Generation Plate)
  • Select your preferred notification method (ie. SMS)
  • Choose a number plate and format (square or oblong)
  • Upload in PDF original logbook and plate (Front and back)
  • Select the collection center and enter your ID number
  • Make a payment of Ksh 3,050
  • A Collection notification will be sent to you via SMS when your plate is ready for pickup

Important Notice

  • Collect your plates after 7 working days
  • Remember to hand over your current plates at the collection point
  • Motorcycle/motor vehicle owners will receive SMS notifications upon verification & approval of the applications.
